We are a non-profit peer led run walk talk group.
“I joined mindful movers for several reasons, the main one being for my mental health. From day 1 I have had nothing but support, guidance and encouragement from everyone. I have formed some amazing friendships and on many of my down days I’ve received help and motivation from each one. Mindful Movers is now a big part of my life, and I will be forever grateful.”
“It’s nice to mix with other people going jogging or walking which is a mutual interest and it is a good way to keep healthy. Lovely to be in a green space getting fresh air.”
“I have been attending mindful movers now for a few years. I find that it has a positive impact on both my physical and mental health. I look forward each week to attending the group, and it always puts me in a good mood. Both Rachel and Hannah are very welcoming and approachable and treat everyone with respect and care. The group is very inclusive, and week by week you grow in confidence whether it is mentally or physically. You definitely feel that sense of community, and you know that everyone is there for each other and has their best interests at heart.”
“Such a wonderful group of people - always welcoming & inclusive!:) Thank you”
“I initially joined Mindful Movers with the goal of completing the Couch to 5k course and while the exercise element remains a good reason to continue to attend, the support and friendly nature of the group has become even more important than the exercise! Such a lovely way to spend a Friday morning! Thank you all!”
“ It’s good It’s fun The people are nice Going there makes me happy
Who Are Mindful Movers
We are a tribe of people from all walks of life who enjoy being outside in green space.
We move more together, walking, jogging and alternative activities such as crafts, environmental work and bushcraft. All the activities are optional and there is never pressure to participate.
We provide support and motivation for each other as we gain positive mental and physical health benefits from our weekly sessions.
For our CORE walk & talk session we meet every Friday at 9:50am ready for a 10am start, sessions usually last around an hour until 11am. We meet together at the fallen tree trunks in the carpark opposite Thornes Park Stadium, Wakefield.
Sessions are free and cater for all ability levels.
We also offer some additional programmes such as;
Making Strides - our accredited qualifications programmes working with the awarding body The Leadership Skills Foundation. We offer Level 1 and 2 courses which develop 5 key skills identified by employers - Teamwork, communication, problem solving, self confidence and self management. This 10 week programme is a great introduction back into eduction and traiing and a stepping stone into emplyment or volunteering.
TRIBE - our wilderness terapy programme using nature as a way to explore and develop areas of yourself. By reconnecting with nature this course provides a way of better understanding and connecting with ourselves in new and different ways, whilst also connecting with other members of the TRIBE. As one previous TRIBE participant said
"It was an amazing expereince. I connected with some lovely like minded people. I could not have wished for a better expereince. Rachel & Hannah were incredible, you could feel the love, care and attention to detail they had put in."
